Punchlines: At last, Congress does something
Sadly, the American people have come to expect a bloody game of partisanship in Washington. So the fact that members of the House and Senate passed not one but two measures has the late-night comics, and everyone else, talking. But the congratulatory pats on the back have been short-lived. The criticism from the late-night guys: One measure was long overdue, and the other was, well, questionable to say the least.
The House voted unanimously Tuesday to end Social Security benefits for suspected Nazi war criminals (one comic looked exasperated after questioning why the benefits went to Nazis in the first place). And the Senate confirmed two ambassadors who seem to know very little about the countries they will be working in, forcing another comic to ask "¿Dónde está his qualifications?" of the ambassador assigned to Argentina who speaks virtually no Español.
