'DREAMers' with licenses benefit safety: #tellusatoday
On Monday, Arizona began issuing driver's licenses to young immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. Comments from Twitter and Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
Allowing them to have a license is positive for roadway safety.

They are not citizens. Get in line, follow the laws and then earn a license.

It's about time. I'd rather they drive legally.
— @LauraBoustani
I can't think of any reason to deny them. What is accomplished by further punishing them for something they had no control of?
— @lyndaarizona
People forget the Constitution lets each state manage itself. Driving is not a right; it is a privilege. My family came from Europe and went through the immigration process. Why is it different now?
— Steve Porter
Sorry if some Arizonans and others think their ancestors are better than these immigrants, but they're wrong. Today's immigrants are here for many of the same reasons and are just as willing to contribute to the American ideal.
— Mike Spaeth
Calling them "DREAMers" doesn't change the fact that their parents broke the law . I am tired of whitewashing facts to fit some politically correct narrative.
— Samantha McNaught Baker
It's a great day for these young immigrants. They hold the spirit of what America means in their hearts and minds.
