Drones threaten privacy, security: #tellusatoday
We asked followers what concerns they had about drones sharing the skies with passenger aircraft. Comments from Twitter and Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
My only worry is that security could be further endangered from the air. I am looking forward to new drone policies.
— @madidornellas
I'm worried that a drone will become sucked into an engine during takeoff, and a plane might crash.
— @jiclark2002
My drone will not go above 400 feet in the air. If I am videoing something at that level, planes should be fine.
— @ZachMayhew
Can citizens trust that companies with drone permits won't violate their privacy as some do with targeted ads online?
— @a_maia_sawyer
I can understand some restrictions regarding drone use at popular or crowded locations. If there were no restrictions, tourists would not be able to photograph the Grand Canyon without a cloud of drones in the picture. The same goes for the White House and some other monuments.
But a drone crashing onto White House grounds, as happened Monday, is a dangerous security breach? Give me a break.
— Christopher Jay Campbell
Actually, this is some scary stuff. What if the drone had been carrying an explosive device? Could this have been a test run? Once again, an incident shows we are not as secure as we think we are.
— Johnny Rose
Good luck regulating drones when you can't even keep firearms out of criminals' hands. Drones can be purchased by anyone.
