Arm Ukraine to deter Vladimir Putin? Your Say
Letter to the editor:
I tend to agree with the piece "Endangering USA won't stop Putin: Opposing view" and that we should not send weapons to Ukraine.
Most important, though, is that both sides of your editorial debate state important facts that should be fleshed out and discussed in a public forum, such as the United Nations and possibly the International Court of Justice. Those institutions exist for a reason, and every attempt should be made to exploit them to the fullest toward the end of avoiding escalation of armed conflict and resolving issues peacefully.

OK, doves, no one wants to fight Russia. Got it? Arming Ukraine is the best logical choice for us at this time to avoid a conflict with the Russians. If we allow Ukraine to fall, merely because "it's not our fight," then Russia's expansion will ultimately spill over into NATO countries. At that point, it becomes our fight.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions are clear. Sanctions and appeasement are evidently not the answer, and have had little or no effect. Arms support for Ukraine is the right thing to do, but why is the U.S. alone in this support?

The USA can't get involved in this other than sanctions. We have the Islamic State to deal with.
