A-10 jet gets job done: Your Say
The Air Force A-10 attack jet has killed 10 U.S. troops in four friendly fire incidents since 2001, a Paste BN analysis found. Congress is debating whether to retire the aircraft. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
Paste BN's article fails to put in perspective the number of missions flown by the A-10 vs. the number of friendly fire deaths that are unfortunately part of every war ("A-10 jet tops list in friendly fire deaths").
Also, close-air support, which the craft provides, is one of the most demanding missions to undertake. Don't forget the countless lives that have been saved by A-10s flying in support of the troops.

Paste BN's report is correct. It's not biased. It's not backed by politics. It simply exposes one of the many fundamental flaws with the A-10.
Let's support our ground forces by endorsing changes instead of continuing to put lives at risk with these museum pieces.

I hope the A-10 stays in service for a long time. Nothing Americans have right now can get the job done like a Warthog, as the jet is known.

The friendly fire incidents are due to the missions, not the plane. Still, the A-10 jet has been in service for a very long time.
I hope that this isn't really about folks making big money off of a commitment to the F-35, a new warplane, which is an incredible plane but very costly.
The F-35 may be able to do the A-10's job, but would the F-35 be more effective in close-air support missions than the A-10 to justify the increased cost?
