What ails Obamacare? Your Say

Letter to the editor:

With the editorial regarding the most recent challenge to Obamacare, Paste BN's Editorial Board is off to a different planet ("If Obamacare plaintiffs win, millions lose: Our view"). The Opposing view succinctly made the point that the issue at hand is whether President Obama is faithfully executing the laws passed by Congress. On this, nothing more needs to be said ("Obamacare rule harms millions: Opposing view").

But when your view closes with an appeal to the Supreme Court justices to "weigh the real world consequences" of their decision, the editorial appears headed for an alternate universe. In it, a president legislates, a Supreme Court bases its decisions on utilitarian results, and a Congress does nothing. Earth to Paste BN! Can you still hear us?

Nothing matters other than the law. The Supreme Court decides what the law says, not which decision will affect the most people. This law is already harming the middle class.

There's damage both ways, and it'll just get worse when the employer mandate fully kicks in.

Isn't a law created to bring justice for the American people? Striking at the heart of this law would cause millions of American citizens to lose affordable health care insurance.

Obamacare needs to die. Instead, we need real health care reform that actually reduces the cost of health care services.

We need tort reform, and we need to let Americans control their own health care, with portability and choice. Everything about Obamacare is hurting us, not helping us.
