For new 'Daily Show' host, a mixed review: Your Say
Comedy Central has defended its selection of "Daily Show" newcomer Trevor Noah, who is in hot water over Twitter jokes some consider anti-Semitic, to replace Jon Stewart. Comments from Facebook and Twitter are edited for clarity and grammar:
The controversy
If Don Imus had to go, so does Trevor Noah.
— Wm. Ocheltree
Comedy Central's defense of Trevor Noah is a classic non-defense that entirely avoids the issue.
— @JohnBourkePR
Trevor Noah will have an entire writer's room to make his jokes for him, people. Geez.
— @Kevin_Church
Comedy Central actually condones Trevor Noah's behavior by hiring him. Or they're just really stupid. #RIPDailyShow
— @MrTVFanatic
The talent
Looks like a good choice. Great deadpan presentation, and not snarky. "The Daily Show" has already had plenty of that.
— Christopher Hamilton
This will never work. Jon Stewart was the show. Stick a fork in "The Daily Show." It's done.
— Lynn Russell
Funny, that's exactly what everybody said when Craig Kilborn was leaving and Stewart was taking over. Everyone was asking who Stewart was. They stated that Kilborn "was the show." As long as the spirit stays, the show will thrive.
— Chris Imirie
I'll miss Stewart. But any guy who speaks six languages is smart enough to talk politics. We'll need help in 2016.
