Cheers for Chipotle's non-GMO ingredients: Your Say

Chipotle announced last week that it uses only non-genetically modified (GMO) ingredients. It is the first national restaurant chain to do so. Facebook comments edited for clarity and grammar:

Good! I hope the change will become a trend with other restaurants and food producers. The farmers need to get on track and stop using GMOs also.

—Mike James

GMOs have been on the market for 20 years. Thanks to GMOs, farmers have reduced pesticide spraying and have been able to adopt no-till practices. The environmental benefits of GMOs are ignored here in favor of ideological scaremongering.

It's a good thing I don't eat at Chipotle that often. Now that the chain has switched to all non-GMO ingredients, prices are sure to go up.

And the food already is fairly pricey.

Many people object when GMO use doesn't have to be disclosed. About 92% of Americans believe in disclosure, according to a Consumer Reports poll. That does not mean banning GMOs.

I simply think we have a right to know what we're eating and where it came from. If you choose to disregard the information, so be it. Free markets work best when there are highly informed consumers. Labeling food is simply part of that.

Thank you, Chipotle. We, as a family, buy organic and real foods. We absolutely do not buy GMOs. Many countries have limited or at the very least labeled GMOs. Vote with your dollars!
