Punchlines: Analyzing TSA failures


Complaints about airport security procedures are nothing new.

Taking off your shoes, filling bins with electronic devices and allowing TSA personnel to pat you down? Never comfortable. Turns out, those procedures weren't really keeping us safe anyway. That's the take away by the late-night comics in response to a new report that shows the TSA had a 95% failure rate. Agents tested airports across the country and were able to carry bombs and weapons through security.

Failures like that show TSA is about as useful as an elevator telephone that connects stuck passengers to a guy in another stalled elevator, says Seth Meyers. And, according to Jimmy Kimmel, the new TSA director is asking that everyone plant bombs in their shoes so they can be more easily detected.
