Voters unimpressed with presidential field: #tellusatoday
So far, four candidates are officially competing for the Democratic presidential nomination and 10 for the Republican spot. Letters to the editor:
How in the world did we end up with this selection of presidential candidates? Sen. Rand Paul said some people secretly want an attack on the United States so they can blame him. Hillary Clinton has her email fiasco.
With these kinds of records, I'm waiting for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to declare as a candidate for president.
John Szilagyi; Lakewood, N.J.
Former Texas governor Rick Perry has announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination. In his speech, he takes jabs at President Obama and even former president Jimmy Carter. Doesn't Perry realize he will not be running against these gentlemen? Oops!

As an independent conservative, I simply shake my head anymore. Where are the likes of Ronald Reagan or Dwight Eisenhower?

I don't think the polls this early mean much before most of the campaigning has begun.
Many candidates just do not have the same name recognition as Hillary Clinton at this point. They all seem to be running with the same slogans, all the standard Democratic sound bites.
— Bob Johnstone
I've gone independent because people vote too much based on party and not the actual issues or candidate criteria. People get seduced by the "I'll give you everything you want" campaign promises, until they get taxed to pay for it.
— Jim Dawkins
Sizing up the candidates
We asked our followers on Twitter what they thought about the growing field of presidential candidates.
I'm going to end up voting for "none of the above" again.

GOP can't seem to find a non-radical whom centrists could get behind. They are all pandering to the far right.
— @major1029
Rick Perry is in, and I'm in. It will take a Texas man to straighten out our nation, a cowboy like Ronald Reagan.
— @acard090
I wonder if Perry will know the names of the government agencies he wants to cut this time around?
