TSA lapses, school quality, police empathy: Your Say
Letters to the editor:
Fix TSA lapses
Sen. Ben Sasse's call for full disclosure of the details in the Transportation Security Administration's reported failure rate of 96% can only help those planning attacks against us in the future — a virtual how-to lesson ("There are TSA secrets worse than a 96% fail rate: Column"). It's enough to know that significant improvements must be made.

Parents' role
Private school parents are more satisfied with their schools' academic quality because they often are more involved ("What Nevada might teach").
I have taught in public and private schools. Until parents step up to the plate, the education of our children in any setting will be remedial at best.

Empathy for police
Thank you for the great writing in the piece "Voices: Police exercise offers glimpse into real-life dangers." Today, with social media, we are quick to judge on news vs. stepping back to understand. Too many people want a sound bite or stage on which to be heard. The police have a role. A better understanding, with education for all sides, is needed.
