Catholic Church cleans house much too late: Your Say
After charges that the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis failed to protect children from a pedophile priest, Archbishop John Nienstedt resigned. The Vatican accepted the resignation Monday. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
Auxiliary Bishop Lee Anthony Piché, who also stepped down, wrote in a statement: "The people of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis need healing and hope. I was getting in the way of that, and so I had to resign."
No. What the people need is for the Catholic Church to rid itself of pedophiles and the upper brass who conceal them.

Individuals I know defended the priests and just said they are imperfect like everyone else and continued to go to church and send their kids to school while knowing this was happening. The Bible says: "Remove the wicked man from among you!" It does not say move him from parish to parish so he will not get found out so he can molest other boys!

I just hope people are astute enough to realize that this problem is not unique to the Catholic Church. It occurs in other Christian churches. It occurs in other religions, for that matter.

They should have resigned a long time ago. Cleaning house and getting rid of all the evil priests should have been done already. Many church officials have long forgotten that they were there to protect the children.
