Political dynasties come with good, bad: #tellusatoday

Jeb Bush launched his presidential bid Monday. We asked what our Twitter followers would think of Bush vs. Hillary Clinton in 2016. Comments from are edited for clarity and grammar:

They have every right to run, but our highest office should not consistently go to the same two families.

Clinton and Bush are the best names money can buy in politics. Talk about branding. They should be trademarked for generations.

@kauaipro

If Hillary or Jeb wins, then I will have been alive for a Bush or Clinton presidency nearly three-fourths of my life. Insane.

@amandawysocki

Are these the faces of the people or the safe choices of big money donors?

@NotAvgAmerican

It's well within their right to run. Being related to, or even married to, a former president means nothing.

@The_Democrat89

Clinton would be a tragedy and Bush would be total disaster.

@Sam_Adhik

We need fresh faces, not reruns.

Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

I personally think Jeb Bush is the best choice among the Republicans announced thus far.

But he might want to change his slogan to "I think I can continue the job of trying to fix the mess my brother made of the country."

David Hoeltje

Bush can't fix the country. No one is going to fix the country. It is irreparably broken by political dynasties such as his and others on both sides of the aisle who take in tons of money from a corrupted system.

Kirk Morgan

I won't vote for a Bush or a Clinton. If those are the tickets, I wouldn't be surprised if that election had one of the lowest turnouts in history.

Letters to the editor:

How dare Paste BN compare Hillary Clinton with Jeb Bush ("Polls reflect troubles for Clinton and Bush").

Clinton is the overwhelming front-runner among Democrats and leads Republican candidates in most polls. Americans may not regard Clinton as trustworthy, but the GOP contenders aren't regarded as much more trustworthy either. However, in a May poll, 65% of Americans think Clinton has strong qualities of leadership.

Clinton is a self-made woman who has had to work for what she has achieved. She has lived the American Dream. Bush has had everything in his life handed to him on a silver platter. He represents the American nightmare: people born into wealth and privilege who then rule this country.

Reba Shimansky; New York City

Hillary Clinton says prosperity should be built by all and shared by all ("Clinton embraces potential to make history").

What does she mean by "shared by all"? Does she mean voluntary charity or forced redistribution via government legalized thievery, as in socialist governments? Politically, forced redistribution pleases many more voters.
