California right to get tough on vaccines: Your Say

California's governor signed legislation last week giving the state one of the strictest school vaccine laws in the country. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

Paste BN's article states, "California children will no longer be able to skip the shots normally required to attend school because of their parents' religious or personal objections" ( "California governor signs strict law requiring vaccinations for most kids"). Hopefully, all states will follow and get rid of these exemptions.

Eliminate exemptions save for the only valid reason: medical (such as allergy to vaccine component or immune deficiency).

Stephen Villano

People keep giving up their basic rights. One day, they will wonder why they have none. An exemption is a birthright in this country. Everyone should have the right to choose. Wake up!

Katrina Meier

If you choose not to vaccinate your children, then you can still educate them at home. What you can no longer do is senselessly endanger other children because you heard someone say something about vaccines.

David Cox

I am not from California, and I chose to vaccinate my children. But the idea that this will no longer be a choice in this state is absolutely frightening to me.

Tammy Stottlemyre Childers

California should have done this sooner. I am glad to see a state wake up!

Amber Grobarek

Wait till there are even more harmful and toxic vaccines, and you can't say no or delay any of them. How will you feel then? I am a pro-some-vaccines mom against forced vaccinations!
