Religious freedom, Donald Trump: Second look

Letters to the editor:

Religious liberty

People go into business to make money, not to express their faith (“Baked in the cake: Legal battles follow gay marriage ruling”). What happens when they put a sign in the window saying, “We don’t serve blacks” or Jews, Muslims or Chinese?

One of the basic tenets of Christianity, spoken by Christ himself, is “Love your enemies.” These “Christians” should either take seriously the imperatives of the Gospel or stop calling themselves Christians.

GOP diluted

Thank you, Kirsten Powers, for finally calling out the liberals and saying the things that most Americans truly believe but are apparently afraid to say publicly. (“Kirsten Powers: Crush Planned Parenthood”).

Also, reader Lou Barth is right about Donald Trump’s appeal and the “RINO Party” (“Trump’s appeal grows, sours: Your Say”). I withdrew support for the Republican Party years ago because its members don’t truly support their constituency any longer. For conservatives, this is no longer a representative government. Trump was a fool for attacking Sen. John McCain’s war record, but spot on about his record.
