Some Subway fans undeterred by Fogle: Your Say

Letters to the editor:

As a once-a-week, faithful customer of the Subway kitchen, I can assure you that it makes no difference to our household if the man who appeared in commercials is a freak or a sex predator. I will continue to enjoy delicious and healthy sandwiches at down-to-earth prices as Jared Fogle rots in jail (“Jared Fogle sentencing hearing set for Nov. 19”).

I do have a remedy, though, for Subway’s legal dilemma. It would be a fair exercise to file civil charges against Fogle for breach of contract for his criminal activities, which cast undue community disgust on the company. The premise would be that he continued his enrichment from the Subway contract while engaging in illicit activities. His wife can divorce him, but we will continue sinking our teeth into Subway sandwiches.

Seriously? Paste BN published six insignificant photos (five on the front page, alone!) in your Thursday print edition of a guy who abused children and had sex with underage girls. Do you think he is some kind of a hero? It would have been humorous except for the serious nature of the crimes. Has all sensible news judgment evaporated from the Paste BN newsroom?

Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

Jared Fogle is not taking responsibility by pleading guilty and accepting a deal. The time for taking responsibility was before he committed the offenses. He is a punk and a coward who got caught, and he should serve a much stiffer penalty than five years, the minimum sentence he faces.
