MLB stadium safety is vital: Your Say

The recent death of an Atlanta Braves fan after falling from Turner Field’s upper deck has fueled a push for increased stadium safety. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

Regardless of whether alcohol was involved, or it was a medical condition, I hope the new stadium is outfitted with higher railings and/or some kind of safety net. The railing in front of our suite might come to my thighs.

They need to stop selling beer in the stadiums.

The railings at some ball fields are way too low. I’m surprised that more people haven’t lost their balance. A slight jostle from someone behind them and anyone could fall a long way to the concrete below.

— Daniel Lee

I am not surprised. I went to that stadium years ago and remember how scary it was up there. It’s also disgusting how the teams continued the game. If one of their own were hurt, you know that they would have stopped the game, at least temporarily.

— Bill Hunt

Going to a baseball game? There’s travel, parking and expensive prices. Boredom sets in and then beer drinking starts and then after three or more hours of sitting down and watching millionaires play, you have to travel back in traffic.

Why not watch it at home? Why pay to sit in a stadium?
