‘Playboy’ articles, American hero: Second look
Letters to the editor:
‘Playboy’ authors
Paste BN’s article on “Playboy” magazine and its relationships with authors was well-written but left out one important author: Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond (“Yes, people DID buy the mag for the articles”).
The serialized adventures of Fleming’s super spy were a feature in the magazine throughout the 1960s along with, yes, the “Bond girls.” The producers of the films even thanked the magazine in one film by showing Bond’s membership card in the Playboy Club.

POLICING THE USA: A look at race, justice, media
Few true heroes
American hero? Spencer Stone was carousing after midnight with several women, hanging out at bars, and brawling with a couple of men before he got stabbed several times (“U.S. hero of French train attack stabbed in Calif.”).
Is that what American heroes are supposed to do? The term “hero” needs to be shelved until one really comes along.
