To address U.S. debt, focus on spending cuts: Your Say

A single donor gave a record $2.2 million to help pay down the national debt — now more than $18 trillion — in September, Treasury officials say. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:

Money coming in is not our problem. Bad decision-making by our “leaders,” that is the problem. A wise person once told me that it’s not what you make but what you keep.

What a joke! Someone gives $2.2 million anonymously and doesn’t even complain about the debt. This country has a huge spending problem. Ever hear of a budget? The American people live by it. We have to! Try it, Washington. The American people would love to see it.

If you have money to burn, donate it to a Tea Party group fighting for freedom and responsible government spending, or send a bunch of kids trapped in a dysfunctional school system to private school.
