Planned Parenthood shooting leaves questions: Your Say
Three people were killed and nine wounded in a shooting at Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs on Friday. The gunman’s motive is unclear. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
This act is a great way to force your viewpoint on others. The question is, what viewpoint is this shooter promoting?
By committing violence, he certainly is not pro-life or pro-choice, which leaves tyranny of the intolerant.

It’s clear to me that this is just an individual wanting 15 minutes of fame and his name remembered like the last fellow in a mass shooting.

Another sad event, another cowardly, terroristic act in the USA!

This situation is a prime example of what happens when a large population of economically disaffected people are constantly exposed to extremist rhetoric.

POLICING THE USA: A look at race, justice, media
The shooter needs to go away for the rest of his life, and he represents only himself. Many of us don’t care if a woman has a choice; we just don’t want tax dollars paying for it.
— William Lyons
It’s sad how many people who commented about this news story had decided the gunman is a pro-life, right-wing fanatical Christian without any evidence. The only one who knows the motive is the shooter.
It’s sickening how these conversations often end up in debates over abortion, race or religion, and are heavily laced with name-calling. So much hate in this world, which breeds people who kill innocent people.
— Mary Moe
What we need is enforcement of existing laws. One legally armed good guy might have stopped this bad guy.

There is plenty of heated rhetoric on both sides of the abortion issue, and with almost any issue. If you’re going to blame this shooting on pro-life rhetoric, then you should blame the Oregon shooting, in which the shooter apparently targeted Christians, on anti-Christian or anti-religion rhetoric, of which there is plenty.
