North Korea’s nuke claim just a bid for attention: #tellusatoday
The United Nations Security Council condemned North Korea on Wednesday after the country claimed it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
Any country that can will probably try to develop nukes. Just because we did it first doesn’t give us the right to say who can or cannot have them. Do I like the idea of nuclear North Korea? No. But it already has nuclear weapons, and it doesn’t dare use them unless it wants to be destroyed. “Mutually assured destruction” is still the name of the game. If you have them, you are unlikely to be invaded. But if you use them, you are guaranteed to bring wrath upon yourself.
— Bobby Reynolds
Sanctions haven’t worked for years. As long as China remains North Korea’s economic crutch, Kim Jong Un will continue to snub his nose at sanctions.
— Terry Hay
The only way to deal with North Korea is for the Chinese to realize it is in their best interest for a radical change in North Korea’s leadership. Of course, China’s nightmare is the collapse of its neighbor, and millions of North Koreans running across the border. Also, South Koreans wouldn’t be too thrilled to have to merge with North Korea because of the economic strain it would put on them.

Kim is just upset the Middle East conflict is upstaging him.

POLICING THE USA: A look at race, justice, media
Letter to the editor:
What’s going on in our world? North Korea just announced it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb. U.S. soldiers are still being killed in Afghanistan. Russia has annexed part of Ukraine. India and Pakistan (both nuclear powers) continue to be in a faceoff. Saudi Arabia and Iran are on the verge of war. America has begun to see radical Islamic terrorism on our soil. And President Obama’s priority is to make it harder for law-abiding citizens to purchase guns for their families’ protection.
Does anybody feel safer with him in charge? Do we want his former secretary of State as our next leader?

We asked what our followers thought about North Korea’s claim that it tested a hydrogen bomb. Comments from Twitter are edited for clarity and grammar:
Kim Jong Un is like an impetuous child. If he isn’t getting enough attention, he does something bad, or pretends to!

I was stationed over in Korea for a year, and we had so many false alerts/alarms because of claims.
— @19Delta_TarHeel
The claim is likely not true. China needs to step up before Kim develops a delivery capability and we must react.
— @edcook111
We need a leader with the ability to influence world diplomacy. Today we do not have that.
— @Donku_ulh
I think there are just two options left: invasion or negotiation. Economic sanctions are useless now.
— @filiumdei
Does it matter what I or anyone thinks about North Korea’s H-bomb claim unless and until that claim is established as fact?
