Zika virus and Sanders on fracking: Second look
Letter to the editor:
“Zika Q&A: U.S. preps for virus ‘scarier than we initially thought’,” written by Liz Szabo, sheds light into why this virus should be considered a worldwide concern, not only to those affected by it. We never acted this ignorant with the Ebola virus because it affected everyone, not just a certain gender. Now that mostly pregnant women are the ones showing the side effects of the virus, it is being portrayed as insignificant to most of society instead of the “public health emergency of international concern” that it really is.

Letter to the editor:
Thank you for allowing Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., to write on hydraulic fracturing (“Opposing view: Fracking presents profound danger”). It is rare these days to see the news media give coverage to opposing views. I agree with Sen. Sanders. Not only are there serious risks of earthquakes and water contamination, but there’s also the increase in the risk of the negative impact on our climate. I am very worried that Hillary Clinton agrees with your view that fracking helps more than it harms. I am voting for Sen. Sanders in the hope that he can act to save our planet for my children and grandchildren.
