Punchlines: Trump majorly announces the obvious
On Friday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump might as well have announced, according to late-night comic Stephen Colbert, that "water is wet, bears poop in the woods and that Donald Trump is not qualified to be president." Instead, he took 30 seconds to state something else equally obvious: President Obama was born in the United States.
The candidate then blamed the entire "birther" kerfuffle on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Not so fast, say Colbert and late-night comic Seth Meyers.
