Pence paid to see a show, not a lecture: Your Say

Being in power means people are going to call you out.

Letter to the editor:

Bigotry is intolerance toward those holding different opinions. The way the cast of Hamilton treated Vice President-elect Mike Pence and his wife is shameful and does not reflect our country’s values. I saw bigots on stage show their hypocrisy and intolerance. Actions like these only divide America. The cast should apologize to Pence, his wife, and the American people and bring America together.

Letter to the editor:

President-elect Donald Trump can demand an apology from the Hamilton cast, but we still live in a free country and our free speech is protected by the Constitution. Trump hasn’t been inaugurated. For all we know, the Electoral College could change their vote. But, if everything goes as planned, the American Civil Liberties Union could have their hands full.

Facebook comments are edited for clarity and grammar:

Vice President-elect Mike Pence paid to see a show, not to attend a political rally. The “Hamilton” management should not tolerate such behavior from its employees. Fire those who participated.

President-elect Donald Trump’s entire campaign was one disparaging remark after another, and now he’s crying that voices raised against him and his back-to-the-50s sidekick are “not fair.”

Tough cookies. Now you want a “safe space” to cry because of those actors said mean things to Pence? Grow a spine. Being in power means people are going to call you out. Get used to it, wimp.

Trump is calling for some basic civility. I understand that people don’t know what that word means so we must make allowance as if they ‘re 3-year-olds throwing a tantrum.
