Draining the swamp is not new in Washington: #tellusatoday
Readers react to Sessions’ request for U.S. attorneys to resign.
Letter to the editor:
President Trump must act now and get rid of the hundreds of Barack Obama leftovers permeating our agencies, who are doing everything they can to ensure that Trump’s presidency is a failure. If Trump needs time to replace these malcontents, there are plenty of retirees with years of experience who would willingly come back to work for a few months, even a year if necessary, until appointments are made.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions should be the first one to resign. Set the example!

Trump and his advisers are getting nervous.
While a coordinated, timely transition is normal, it is stupid to go without so many U.S. attorneys at once.
— Craig Teller
It’s standard practice for U.S. attorneys to be replaced in a new administration. Kind of a silly practice though, getting rid of all that experience. I’d want the best person for the job, no matter if they are appointed by a Democrat, Republican or whatever.
The only reason this is newsworthy is because Sessions is axing them before their replacements have been chosen. This disrupts ongoing cases and basically puts everything on hold. Not a smart or efficient way to do things.
— Stephen Cooper
Out with the old and in with the new!
It will take a little time to get all of those terrible Barack Obama appointees out, but President Trump will make America great again as soon as all of those liberal, progressive attorneys are gone. They are the ones messing things up for Trump.
— Lynn Thacker
Obama had his time already! This is Trump’s administration now, so yes, it’s time to remove all of the Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys.

We asked our followers their thoughts on Attorney General Jeff Sessions asking for the resignation of U.S. attorneys, who were appointed by prior administrations. Tweets are edited for clarity and grammar:
This happens every single administration. President Trump is controversial for sure, but this isn’t.

Nothing more than preventing a full investigation of Trump and Russia.

Legal, traditional, necessary, and given the behavior of a number of Obama appointee insiders, essential.

Trump disrupted every existing investigation, including the ones involving him and his administration. We want justice.

They all need to go. Drain the whole swamp.
