Sen. JD Vance of Ohio faced off against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday night in their first, and only, vice presidential debate – likely the last debate of the 2024 election season.
Unlike the last month's presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, the mics were live during CBS News' vice presidential debate broadcast – and the fact-checking was absent. The Republican and Democratic vice presidential nominees tackled big issues on stage: the Middle East, the opioid crisis, immigration and abortion among them, as they made their case to voters with only five weeks to go until Election Day.
