The U.S. Senate kicked off its impeachment trial Tuesday by hashing out rules for the proceedings, or what late-night comic James Corden compared with getting excited about the table of contents in a book. 

But Corden warns that we shouldn't get too hopeful about impeachment proceedings moving forward. The trial in the Republican-controlled Senate, he says, will be about as legitimate as the college applications were in the Operation Varsity Blues scandal.
