Dems are mad about Biden book. Jake Tapper must be a deep undercover MAGA agent | Opinion
President Joe Biden, his family and his advisers knew he wasn’t up to the job or to serving another four years – yet they lied to voters repeatedly that he was fine.
It’s been a big week for news about former President Joe Biden.
On May 20, a book detailing Biden’s decline hit the bookshelves. And only days before, Biden announced he had an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
All of it has sparked intense speculation among the media and political leaders. “Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” by CNN host Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson, lays out in detail the lengths to which Biden’s family and closest aides went to try to hide the president’s true condition.
And thanks to a cooperative legacy media, the Biden cover-up went as planned until he showed the world just how bad things were at the June 2024 debate with Donald Trump.
Yet, even now, after so much attention and reporting on what Biden and Democrats attempted to keep from the American people, some in the media and many on the left are offering surprising takes.
Take this post on X from The Daily Beast, for example: “JD Vance wasted no time sharing his concerns that the former president was not ‘capable of doing the job’ while in office − fueling the MAGA conspiracy about a ‘cover-up’ of Biden’s health.”
The Daily Beast was responding to an answer Vance gave about Biden’s cancer news.
Or consider this observation from NBC News: “An initial wave of bipartisan sympathy for Biden’s cancer diagnosis has given way to suggestions from Trump’s allies that the former president’s inner circle masked his condition while he was in office to create an illusion that he was still up to the job.”
If the cover-up of Biden’s deterioration was a “MAGA conspiracy” by “Trump’s allies,” one must conclude the following: Tapper – and Thompson by association – are deep undercover MAGA agents.
Democrats are mad the attention is on their lies about Biden – not on Trump
It’s laughable, I know. But it’s essentially what Democrats and the liberal media are alleging.
Tapper and Thompson are hardly right-wing pundits. Rather, they did more than 200 interviews to get to the truth of what happened in the Biden White House.
It’s alarming stuff, and it’s important for the American people to know.
A lot of people in the media and Democrats don’t care about the truth, however, and are simply mad that the book exists. And they are treating the authors, mostly Tapper, as traitors.
The co-hosts of “The View” took issue with “Original Sin,” accusing Tapper of “hawking his book on CNN.” Instead, they wanted more focus on Trump’s “atrocities.”
“When is Jake Tapper going to write about the cognitive decline of the person in charge right now?” Joy Behar posited.
Wajahat Ali of the “The Left Hook” Substack wrote on X: “Jake Tapper's New Book on Biden Reveals How Corporate Media is Failing America. While the Trump Administration is galloping towards fascism...corporate media remain complicit cowards by focusing on Joe Biden’s age.”
Book is ‘political fairy smut,’ says Biden’s granddaughter
Biden’s granddaughter, Naomi Biden, 31, certainly took umbrage with the revelations.
“Just read a copy of this silly book, and if anyone is curious for a review from someone who lived it first-hand: this book is political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class,” Hunter Biden’s daughter accused on X.
Others greeted the book with a giant yawn. The Atlantic’s Mark Leibovich wrote that focusing on Biden’s age is getting old. He also said that since Biden’s age was an “observable fact,” there was no conspiracy to hide it.
That completely misses the point of Tapper and Thompson’s book. Everyone knows – and has known – that Biden is old. What matters is that Biden, his family and his advisers knew he wasn’t up to the job or to serving another four years – yet they lied to voters repeatedly that he was fine.
Digging for the truth is at the heart of what journalists are supposed to do. That never gets old.
Kudos to Tapper and Thompson for swimming against the liberal media tide.
