A cat owner was drafted in as a temporary firefighter to help rescue his stranded pet in Sunnyvale, California.

Nick Csongor was looking for his missing orange cat, James, when he found him perched high atop a telephone pole with no way to get down safely. When first responders from the Sunnyvale Fire Department arrived on the scene, they assessed the situation and hatched an unusual plan.

After cutting the power to the telephone pole, they invited Nick to climb into the firetruck's basket to rescue James himself to avoid spooking the cat.
