'Doctor Who' app turns your camera into a Dalek

Just in time for this weekend's return of the Doctor, a new Doctor Who app has popped up in the iTunes Store. Its mission: to transform your iPhone/iPad/iPod camera into a Dalek.

Yep, Doctor Who: EyeStalk is a photo filter that includes seven visual effects spanning 50 years of the landmark series. After you take a pic, the app lets you save it to your library and/or share via Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. Amuse your friends with Dalek-inspired pics of your baby, your dinner or, in my case, your shoes:

The app costs $1.99, and I'm told it's coming to Android soon.

As for the show, Doctor Who returns Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on BBC America.
