Cool stuff on DVD today: Fraggles and more
It's a mixed bag today, but perhaps you can find something interesting among these new releases:
Release o' the week: Fraggle Rock: 30th Anniversary Collection. This fancy box set contains all seasons of Fraggle Rock, all episodes of the animated series and a new graphic novel.
- Beware of Mr. Baker. This documentary profiles legendary rock 'n' roll drummer Ginger Baker, and I can't wait to see it.
- Cloud Atlas. Even though critics were mixed about this sprawling epic, I have a hard time saying no to the Wachowskis.
- A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III. Unfortunately, a cast that includes Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman doesn't necessarily make a good film.
- Frankie Go Boom. This comedy didn't get great reviews either, but it does feature Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman, along with Chris O'Dowd and Lizzy Caplan.
- Roseanne: The Complete Series. The classic sitcom finally arrives on disc.
Blu-ray highlight: Criterion issues 1957's 3:10 to Yuma, which was remade in 2007.
Also out: Dexter: The Seventh Season, Liz & Dick, Back to 1942, Leonie, Texas Chainsaw, 3rd Rock From the Sun: The Complete Series, That '70s Show: The Complete Series
Related news: I'm eager to see the final season of Damages, which arrives July 16.
Next week: Steven Soderbergh's last theatrical feature, Side Effects, arrives.
