Have you snapped a 'bookshelfie'?
While I can't really understand or endorse the "selfie" phenomenon, I can get behind the meme with a brainy twist: the "bookshelfie."
To participate, just snap a photo of yourself in front of your bookshelf. Share it with the hashtag #bookshelfie and wait for your pals to compliment your reading material.
A bunch of bookshelfies can be found at bookshelfies.tumblr.com and, of course, on Twitter, Instagram and other social spaces. I'm attaching a pic of me in front of one of the many bookshelves in my apartment. Here are a few of the titles you may spy:
- An Object of Beauty by Steve Martin
- Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata
- Let Us Now Praise Famous Men by James Agee and Walker Evans
- Calling Dr. Laura by Nicole J. Georges
- Need More Love by Aline Kominsky Crumb
- Factory Made: Warhol and the Sixties by Steven Watson
- Herbie Archives Vol. 1 by Shane O'Shea and Ogden Whitney
- Local by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly
- The Collected Poems of Wallace Stevens
- The Americans by Robert Frank and Jack Kerouac
- Daybreak by Brian Ralph
- Destroy All Movies! The Complete Guide to Punks on Film by Zack Carlson and Brian Connolly
And that's just a tiny percentage of my collection! If you snap a bookshelfie, feel free to also tweet it to @popcandy or send it to popcandy@usatoday.com. I may share a few on the blog.
