Listen: Jessica Hernandez's 'Sorry I Stole Your Man'
Within seconds of hearing her music, I knew Jessica Hernandez was my kind of woman.
The Detroit-based singer has a powerhouse voice that really took me by surprise (in a great way). And while her pipes are enough to reel me in, they're backed by a powerful five-piece band, The Deltas, that incorporates rockabilly, soul, Latin and punk sounds into their spellbinding tunes.
In a couple weeks, Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas release their debut album, Secret Evil. I love just about every song on it, and I have a feeling these guys are especially electric during their live performances.
Today I'm happy to premiere Sorry I Stole Your Man, a swaggering tune that makes me wanna tease my hair and trade my Chucks for heels.
"I originally wrote (it) as a playful joke about what I was going through at the time," Jessica says. "Some friends heard it one day and loved it, so the joke became real when I decided to release it."
It's a keeper, right? Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas' debut album, Secret Evil, goes on sale Aug. 19. See a bunch of tour/festival dates and learn more at jessicahernandez.net; she's also on Twitter at twitter.com/detroitjess.
