The College Football Playoffs are onto the semifinals.

Notre Dame's defense dominated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, earning a trip to the Orange Bowl against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Penn State had little trouble with Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl and have outscored their CFP opponents by a combined score of 69-24 so far.

On the other side of the bracket, the Ohio State Buckeyes rolled past previously undefeated Oregon at the Rose Bowl, exacting revenge on the Ducks for a 32-31 defeat during the regular season. The Buckeyes will play the role of road favorite when they take on the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. Texas survived a double overtime scare from Arizona State in the Peach Bowl.
