I own a lot of Dr. Martens shoes. Here are the top five pairs of Dr. Martens boots and sandals I'd buy again and highly recommend.
  • The author owns 13 pairs of Dr. Martens, highlighting their visual appeal and high-quality performance.
  • Dr. Martens shoes are durable and stylish, but require a break-in period.

I'm a boots person. I really thrive when I'm wearing chunky footwear and I always have. Before I bought my first pair of Dr. Martens boots, I went through dozens of cheap combat boots that just couldn't keep up.

It is no secret that I currently own 13 pairs of Dr. Martens shoes, including my first pair of DM sandals that I recently purchased. Don't get me wrong, I understand that investing in 13 pairs is excessive but I'm okay with it. The cult-favorite brand matches my personal aesthetic flawlessly and the shoes are truly unmatched as far as quality and durability.

My oldest Docs have taken me from the daily grind to countless music festivals and camping trips, and a few scuffs here and there just add to their charm.

I can't recommend Dr. Martens enough but I'll be totally honest about the one downside to buying your first pair of Docs: Breaking in a pair of Dr. Martens boots will probably involve a little blood. You need to wear the shoes and loosen up the leather a bit before they're actually comfortable. My tip: If you wear thick socks and keep a few blister bandages handy, you'll be fine.

That said, here are my five favorite pairs of Dr. Martens boots and sandals that I would buy again.

1. Dr. Martens Jadon Max Boot Women's Platforms

I bought these boots as a reward for getting a new job a few years ago. They are a staple in my closet and I wear them to every single event I can. If you’re looking for drama, you got it. Buy at Dr. Martens

2. Dr. Martens Zebzag 8 Ties Burnish Waxy Lace Up Boots

These are my newest pair of platform boots and I didn’t expect to love them as much as I do. They’re so comfortable and one of the easiest pairs of DMs to break in. Buy at Dr. Martens

3. Dr. Martens Wrenlie Grizzly Leather Fisherman Sandals

I recently bought my first pair of DM sandals and these are super comfortable with just the right amount of edge. I’m still going to wear my boots in the summer but having a slightly more seasonally-appropriate shoe feels good. Buy at Dr. Martens

4. Dr. Martens Vegan 1460 Felix Lace Up Boots

I think everyone needs a pair of hearty black boots and these are mine. The vegan leather is way easier to break in than the OG 1460 boots so I highly recommend them as your first pair of Docs. 10/10 would buy again but I probably won’t have to because they will last forever. Buy at Dr. Martens

5. Dr. Martens 1460 Vonda Floral Reclaimed Leather Boots

Dr. Martens 1460 Vonda Floral Reclaimed Leather Boots
Truth time: I got my favorite floral print Dr. Martens at a thrift store and I can’t find them online. But, these are a solid alternative. They are perfect for outfits that need a subtle pop of personality without going too crazy. Buy at Dr. Martens
