To the surprise of no one, Clayton Kershaw became the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach the 3,000 strikeout milestone. It took the Los Angeles Dodger great longer than expected against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night, but on his 100th pitch of the evening Kershaw delivered the all-important strike three.
Kershaw has played his entire 18-year career for the Dodgers, making his 3,000 strikeout accomplishment all the more impressive as he's only the third player to record 3,000 strikeouts for the same team, joining arguably the two best pitchers of all time, Walter Johnson and Bob Gibson.
While much is made of Shohei Ohtani's time with the Dodgers, and last year's World Series really belonged to Freddie Freeman, Kershaw is unequivocally Mr. Dodger of the 21st century.
