Stack coupons when possible
Combine manufacturer coupons with store coupons and loyalty rewards for bigger savings. For example, use a $2 manufacturer coupon, a $3 store coupon and $5 store credit on a $10 item—and you could potentially just pay just taxes! Check store policies to see what stacking is allowed.
Start shopping now
Retailers are releasing holiday deals earlier than ever. September and October are now prime shopping months and if you're like me, you are going to be crazy busy by the time Black Friday rolls around so, I suggest getting as many gifts purchased as you can now. Obviously if you are shopping for seriously big-ticket items, Black Friday will have the ultimate discounts. But I can usually get most of my gift shopping list checked off by November.
Wrap as you shop
This isn't going to save you money, but it will save you some time and energy! Wrap gifts as they arrive to avoid the Christmas Eve chaos. I love the feeling of crossing a name off my list completely once the gift has been purchased, wrapped and labeled! Plus, many retailers offer free or discounted gift wrapping—take advantage!
