The Bay Area is gearing up to host Super Bowl LX! The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will face off at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. on Sunday, Feb. 8. While that's not *technically* San Francisco, it's close enough and with BART, you can get all over the city with very little effort.
But, if you're traveling for the big game, there are a few things to consider. First and foremost, if you've never been, San Francisco is not the sunny version of California. Bring layers; it is foggy, windy and colder than you'd imagine. I lived outside of the Bay Area for four years and attended many, many sporting events in the city, so here are my travel essentials for Super Bowl LX:
Super Bowl LX tickets
The Super Bowl is the biggest event going on in the Bay Area, so don't miss this chance. Levi's Stadium is less than 15 years old and it's only the second time in the last 30 years that the city has hosted the Super Bowl.

Gear up. The Bay Area does not take fandom lightly.
You are going to quickly be surrounded in red and gold San Francisco 49ers fans, black and orange San Francisco Giants fans and blue and yellow Golden State Warriors fans. The fandoms run deep among a passionate, PASSIONATE fanbase. Whether you're rooting for the Seahawks (which might not be as welcome to conference rival 49er fans) or the Patriots, be ready to show off your team. But, I'd very much suggest winter-ready fan gear or something that works in layers.

Pro-tip: Weather forecasts are expecting mid-60 degree weather with cloud cover, but mist and rain come on quickly because of the proximity to the coast. Add this disposable poncho to your go-bag, just in case.
Plan for movement, prepare with comfortable shoes
It's not New York, but San Francisco is not a city you want to be driving in—the traffic alone, ugh. Whether you want to take a jog down the Golden Gate Bridge, walk iconic Lombard Street or enjoy the food, shopping and sights of Pier 39, you can expect quite the workout just touring the city. Plus, it'll make you feel better about the pound of garlic fries you absolutely have to have at Levi's Stadium. Be sure to grab comfortable walking shoes!

Hold your essentials on game day and beyond with a stadium-approved bag
Whether you like it or not, you're a tourist. Daily essentials might include your phone, wallet and a power bank. But, you might also be tucking BART passes and more away, make it easier with a small crossbody or waist bag. This one from Vera Bradley is 50% off and stadium-approved with a clear, officially-licensed NFL design.

Don't run out of battery! Grab a power bank for your devices
You're on-the-go. When I'm traveling, days start early and I take a ton of photos. Plus, you might be grabbing rideshares, looking for directions and so much more activity on your phone. Don't let it die halfway through the day.

It offers 10,000mAh capacity, multiple ports, and a sleek design that fits easily in your pocket or clutch. Perfect for everyday carry without bulk. Buy now at Amazon
Stay hydrated while touring the city
Again, there's plenty to see and do in San Francisco, stay hydrated with an insulated cup that's built for travel. Unless it's clear, it won't be able to get into Levi's Stadium with you, but this Owala is a great option for travelers. But, if you do want a stadium-approved one, this transparent Owala fits the mold (just remember, it has to be empty when you arrive).
