The 2026 Winter Olympics came to a close on Sunday, but not without a few final moments of drama dripping with golden glory.

While it still feels like winter for much of the country, we can look back on the last 16 days in February as the warmest moments that sports has to offer.

You don't have to be a fan to enjoy the Olympics, but you do need to be a savvy shopper in order to capitalize on some of these once-in-a-lifetime moments and keep the Olympic spirit alive. Gold medal moments born from golden opportunities

KASEY CAMINITI - The 2004 film “Miracle” has a permanent spot in my top five all-time favorite movies. The 2026 men’s USA Olympic hockey team finally ended the 40-year gold medal drought when they defeated Canada in this year’s Winter Olympics. While the gold medal and dramatic overtime win are nothing short of cinematic, my vote for MVP goes to Jack Hughes’ missing teeth. Hughes scored the winning goal for Team USA, left his teeth on the ice and proved that in order to win, you must sacrifice.

A comeback for the ages as Team USA women's hockey wins dramatic gold

DAVID HOFFMAN - The men's hockey final was fantastic, but I'm leaning toward the women's win! After being down the majority of the game, Team USA stormed back with a last-minute goal that just gave me goosebumps even while watching from a different continent. I still think about that long pass to Megan Keller for the game winner, just one of those once in a lifetime plays that will be shown in highlight reels forever.

Alyssa Liu skates into our hearts

KYLEY WARREN - Alysa Liu was the star of this year's Winter Olympics. One of my favorite moments from the Games included her winning the gold figure skating medal for her joyful, beautiful routine, and then en route to the medal ceremony, frantically looking for her Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil Stain because she couldn't possibly be photographed without it lol—world-class athletes, they're just like us!

Olympic stuffed animals will melt almost any hear

TRISHA EASTO - My favorite thing isn't so much a single moment, but the little mascot stuffy they're giving to everyone. They're called Tina and Milo, which are stoats or ferret-like animals. The little stuffed animal is so cute but when they handed them out to the Canadian men's hockey team after that loss....it seemed like those stuffed animals were in danger. 

Elana Meyers Taylor wins bobsled gold, celebrates with her sons

JESSICA MOORE - I absolutely loved seeing my fellow Georgian and the most decorated bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor win her gold medal! I have been following her journey for several Olympics now and it's always so special to watch her celebrate with her two sons, Nico and Noah. Mikaela Shiffrin, the GOAT, dusts the field for yet another gold

DYLAN REFFE - I was very tempted to simply pick love, as we saw multiple engagements including Breezy Johnson on the slopes and a high-profile Winter Olympic couple of Hillary Knight and Brittany Bowe, but for me it's all about love of the game. Can I interest you in the best athlete in the history of her sport absolutely decimating the entire field after a particularly shaky start to this year's Olympics? Enter, Mikaela Shiffrin, who won gold at the women's slalom by 1.5 seconds. That may not sound like a lot of time, but if you sum the winning margins of victory from the last SEVEN Winter Olympics (1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022) you get 1.51 seconds. Mikaela is the GOAT, and so is her adidas gear.
