Multi-millionaire entrepreneur Travis Hanson shares his real estate secrets
Entrepreneur Travis Hanson shares his secret for winning big in real estate.
Real estate is a multi-billion dollar industry, and the stakes are increasing yearly. According to Statista, the sector has an annual growth rate of 3.71% and is projected to reach $369.90 billion in revenue by the end of 2022 alone.
For business-savvy real estate entrepreneurs and investors like Travis Hanson, real estate provides a great source of passive income. All it takes is to know how the industry works.
However, finding success for many entrepreneurs has been challenging, leaving them frustrated and disappointed. Real estate is a highly lucrative yet volatile sector. New investors will do well to take a lesson or two from veterans like Hanson, an acclaimed and highly successful serial investor.
Coming from a less-than-privileged background without substantial financial assets, Hanson wanted to be financially free. He wanted to find himself in a financial situation where he was not worried about paying his bills.
More than anything, Hanson wanted a passive source of income so he could retire early. When he discovered real estate, he knew it was just the solution he was looking for. Falling back on savings he had from his previous employment when he worked as a police officer and as an attorney, Travis put his head down and didn’t look back.
“I started investing in real estate,” he says. “I started buying up as much real estate as I could, and I hit the gas. And I just kept buying and buying and buying and buying.”
After he graduated and started working as an attorney, Hanson kept up his real estate investment spree, plunging his money into one property after another without taking a break. He kept up his investment for eight straight years, gaining precious experience and improving his industry perspective.
It’s been 13 long, eventful years since he started doing real estate, and it has been a rollercoaster for Hanson. “I'm fully retired and multimillionaire, and living off the income from my real estate and from the several businesses I started along the way, and it's all because I had the mindset, man, anybody can do this. It's just the mindset,” he says.
Hanson currently has several interests he's running, vis-à-vis a real estate brokerage, a real estate syndication company, a property management company, a real estate flipping company and a real estate investor retreat network. This latter initiative is one of Hanson’s ways to empower young entrepreneurs and give back to society.
The idea of the real estate retreat is to build an extensive network of real estate entrepreneurs and investors who'll come together, hang out and leverage the platform to become successful in the industry. Through the retreat, Hanson will share his specific steps to doing real estate that has helped him stand out in the industry.
According to Hanson, who started investing in real estate while still in law school, succeeding in real estate is not complicated. As with any endeavor, information is critical to success or failure. For Hanson, real estate entrepreneurs serious about winning big must be sure they have the correct information they need.
However, many who want to get into real estate need the correct information and meet brick walls in their path. Hanson hopes he can re-orientate people regarding real estate and help them see how possible it is to find success in the industry, just like he has, by opening his real estate retreats.
The investor retreats will be sited at luxury locations around the nation. While gushing about the retreat in a recent interview, Hanson says an essential ingredient of his teaching would be its practicality.
“I'm going to mirror a lot of what I do,” he offers. “I want to be genuine, factual; I want somebody to look up what I say and see that I am a multimillionaire, that I am retired, and that I am all these things that I portray.”
Similarly, Hanson notes that many entrepreneurs and real estate investors need the proper perspective to grow in the industry. For Hanson, people looking to succeed in real estate should have the right mindset and not pay attention to negativity.
All it takes is the right mindset, and everything else will fall into place. So the key to winning is in mind. Many people only fail in business or fall short of achieving their aims because many negative vibes are flowing around. With the retreat, Hanson hopes to help build the winning mentality and get the edge they need in the real estate industry.
“My goal is to teach them that it's not very hard. You just have to overcome that big first hurdle,” he says. And that first hurdle is to pull the trigger.
For Travis Hanson, the fundamental thing to remember is that you can’t succeed unless you try. “Risk is not risk, and debt is not the enemy; if you ever want to be successful in life, you have to take on risk, and know that debt is not the enemy; if you ever want to be successful in life, you have to take on risk, and you have to be able to stomach the right kind of debt. If you can do those two things, the sky's the limit.”
