New interactive animal experience makes learning about animals fun for all ages
Seaquest, a completely interactive experience for families and children of all ages, provides an opportunity to explore rain forests, deserts and oceans while interacting with some of the most magical creatures on earth. With eight locations across the country, including a recent opening in Trumbull, Conn., SeaQuest is set to celebrate the grand opening of its newest location in Woodbridge. The SeaQuest experience will offer conservation “edutainment,” a unique combination of eco-conscious education and entertainment right here in New Jersey.
SeaQuest delivers a fun and memorable experience for anyone interested in going beyond the glass and getting up-close and personal with marine life, reptiles, birds and mammals. Families (and the young at heart) can enjoy an adventure-filled day at SeaQuest while learning more about animals and their ecosystems, conservation, and the importance of taking care of the planet.
A blend of adventure and activism
With help from expertly trained staff members, guests can see, touch and feed many of the animals. SeaQuest aims to help children and adults “build a relationship that inspires them to become vested in conservation and in the protection of our planet’s diverse inhabitants.” Guests are encouraged to connect with animals and learn about their ecosystems, through hands-on activities such as feeding sharks, stingrays, birds and other exotic animals.
For those who feel even bolder, SeaQuest offers adventures such as getting nose-to-beak with birds in walk-in aviaries; touring behind-the-scenes with staff; feeding caiman alligators; and snorkeling with reef sharks, stingrays and hundreds of tropical fish.
SeaQuest loves animals, and their model uses entertainment and family-friendly fun as a way to promote its mission of providing safe and healthy habitats, while advocating for those whose homes are threatened in the wild.
Each location has teams of animal care professionals, many of whom hold degrees in biology, zoology and marine biology. All members of the staff have received specialized training in the care of the animals that call SeaQuest home, and the teams work closely with veterinarians and local officials to make sure every animal lives a healthy, happy life.
In addition, each SeaQuest location partners with local community-based organizations and schools to give back, through their SeaQuest Cares program. They offer free admission for foster families and certified teachers; host blood, food and supply drives; and donate annual passports, birthdays and use of their facility to support fundraising efforts.
Interact with animals from around the planet
SeaQuest features themed exhibits from around the planet, with exhibits and animals varying by location, including:
- Amazon Rainforest: Explore life in the world’s largest tropical rainforest, from the jungle canopy to the rivers. Experience animals that live in the rainforest trees, such as iguanas, and species of large fish found in the Amazon River.
- Fantasy Caves: Witness one of the coolest natural phenomena in the world, bioluminescence. See creatures such as scorpions and coral that glow under different spectrums of light.
- Egyptian Desert: Walk through the desert and meet many reptiles along the way, as you learn about their dry habitats, diet and behaviors.
- Caribbean Cove: Take a plunge into the deep and hand feed several different species of stingrays, sharks and tropical fish. If you’re brave enough, you can even snorkel with stingrays and sharks! (Not to worry: These sharks are not dangerous and are well-adjusted to hand feedings.)
Save big on annual family memberships
To celebrate the grand opening, SeaQuest is offering a pre-opening deal on memberships that can’t be beat. For about the price of one trip to the movies, you can purchase a yearlong membership to SeaQuest (and access to all the exhibits and adventures).
Annual passports are good for one person for a full year of unlimited admission and exclusive membership benefits and discounts. Purchase a primary annual passport for $29.95 (reduced from $59.95), then add as many secondary passports as you want (for family members, including children over age 2, and friends) for $19.95 (regularly $39.95). At this price, you’ll pay for your annual passports in about two visits, so even if you anticipate visiting SeaQuest every few weeks, you should buy now and save.
All secondary passports must be purchased at the same time as the primary passport. The passports offer the same benefits; the only difference is the price. Children under 2 years old are always admitted free to SeaQuest.
SeaQuest also offers behind-the-scenes tours and hosts birthday parties, school field trips and private corporate events. Birthday parties and snorkeling with the stingrays experiences are also on sale.
