Wild acquire Sean Bergenheim from Panthers in trade
Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher told Paste BN Sports Tuesday afternoon that he was hoping to improve his team's depth before the trade deadline and early Tuesday evening he did that by acquiring forward Sean Bergenheim from the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers received a 2016 third-round pick, and will send a seventh-round pick to Minnesota.
Bergenheim, 31, has eight goals this season, but was a 16-goal scorer in 2013-14. He also has a good playoff history, producing 17 points in 23 career playoff games.
Like several teams, the Wild have been hit by injuries this season, and Fletcher said earlier in the day that he was considering adding some help before the Monday trade deadline.
Bergenheim had fallen out of favor in Florida, and undoubtedly welcomed the trade to a Wild team that recently moved into a wild card spot in the Western Conference. Bergenheim has always been considered a dependable forward.
