Surfer describes fighting off shark during competition
A world surfing competition had to be cancelled Sunday after one of the surfers was attacked by a shark. Three-time world champion Mick Fanning from Australia was struck by the shark from behind and knocked off his board. He escaped unharmed. (July

It's hard to imagine few things more terrifying.
Three-time world champion Australian surfer Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark during the finals of a world surfing competition in South Africa on Sunday.
Fanning punched the shark before escaping unharmed during the J-Bay Open on Jeffreys Bay. The competition was suspended following the incident.
