Professional Fighters League debuts at NASCAR's Daytona International Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Drivers have brawled a few times over the years at Daytona International Speedway, so why shouldn’t fighters fight at one of racing’s biggest tracks?

The relatively new Professional Fighters League, a mixed martial arts organization, staged four exhibition matches in the infield fan zone at DIS Friday night, giving NASCAR fans a look at an increasingly popular form of ring competition.

Russ Ramsey, PFL executive chairman, said the organization is looking at the possibility of scheduling events at other NASCAR tracks as part of its 2018 season.

“Tonight is kind of a test,” Ramsey said. “We’re thinking about where else this could work. We think it brings new excitement, youth and energy to fans.”

NASCAR drivers train with Winter Olympians

Martin Truex Jr., Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez went to an Olympic training facility in Utah to work out with Olympians and learn more about winter sports.
