Great Balls of Fire: WWE event schedule, information, rundown
WWE is bringing the first Great Balls of Fire to Dallas on Sunday.
WHEN: The RAW-branded pay-per-view begins at 8 p.m. ET with the kickoff show set to begin at 7.
HOW TO WATCH: Great Balls of Fire can be seen on WWE Network.
WHERE: American Airlines Arena in Dallas
THE RUNDOWN:
WWE Universal Championship, champion Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe: Lesnar has his first match since winning the title from Goldberg at WrestleMania and the veteran Samoa Joe gets his first WWE Universal title match. The buidup to this match has been strong with a battle between heavy hitters.
Ambulance Match, Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman: The winner has to put his opponent in the ambulance and shut the doors. Originally scheduled for Extreme Rules, the match was derailed by Strowman’s elbow surgery. Reigns has already claimed he will be the No. 1 contender for the Universal title at Summer Slam in August.
RAW Tag Team Championship, 30-Minute Iron Man, champions Sheamus and Cesaro vs. The Hardy Boyz: The team with the most decisions in the 30 minutes takes the titles. The previous pay-per-view matches between the teams have been strong so there is no reason to think they will disappoint. The RAW tag team division needs an infusion of energy and perhaps this can be the spark.
RAW Women’s Championship, champion Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks: Banks gets back into the title picture after being relegated to a mixed tag team match on the kickoff show before Extreme Rules last month. Bliss has quickly become the most compelling woman on RAW, transferring her success from SmackDown Live. Does a Banks win set up a match vs. Bayley at Summer Slam?
Intercontinental Championship, champion The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose: The rivalry here has been fun, but it’s also gone on for quite some time. The two former SmackDown Live competitots essentially transferred their rivalry to RAW. The title seems to be a better fit by staying with The Miz, although expect some outside interference.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship, champion Neville vs. Akira Tozawa: Since January, few have come close to the “Neville Level” among the cruiswerweights. With Austin Aries not being able to topple Neville despite an extended rivalry, Tozawa becomes the next challenger. This doesn’t seem like the right spot for a title change.
Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt: After the five-way match at Extreme Rules, neither man seemed to have an obvious opponent. The storyline is that Wyatt is targeting the men who cost him a chance to be the No. 1 contender. Could easily see a rematch coming of this one at Summer Slam, which likely means there is not a definitive result here.
Big Cass vs. Enzo Amore: WWE has split one of its most popular tag teams after Cass attacked his little buddy Enzo. Both men have added a layer to their respective characters, with Enzo playing up the emotional struggle of the split. If Cass is going to be established as a heel, he needs to put a thorough beatdown on Enzo, who will show his resilience and fighting spirit until the end.
