THIS IS WHY WE LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Now, let's talk college football. SEC powers Florida and Auburn met in "The Swamp" Saturday afternoon and proceeded to play a confounding slugfest that was ultimately won by the Gators.
It certainly wasn't pretty, but the random nature of the top-10 matchup reminded us of what we love about college football in the first place.
And luckily for everyone, the SEC figures to offer up much more drama like that down the stretch: Florida plays LSU next week in another top-10 showdown.
The rest of the highlights from Week 6:
- Let us never speak of Iowa-Michigan ever again.
- An Oregon player straight-up tackled a fan who ran onto the field.
- Texas ran a trick play for its 6-7, 300-pound tackle. He scored a TD.

- Is Penn State the only team that can stop them?
- Latest Rutgers redshirt decisions just a sign of the times.
LEAGUE OF HER OWN
American gymnast Simone Biles is arguably the best ever. We already knew that. She knows that. But now, as our Nancy Armour writes, she's being punished for having skills other gymnasts don't possess. And she's not shy about pointing out the hypocrisy.
“They keep asking us to do more difficulty and to give more artistry, give more harder skills. So we do, and then they don’t credit it, and I don’t think that’s fair.”
So what did Biles do Saturday night at the World Gymnastics Championships? Only nail two difficult new skills that will be named after her.
COLLEGE ATHLETES ARE GONNA GET PAID! WELL, MAYBE!
The news of the week came out of California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that will make it easier for college athletes in the state to profit from their own name, image and likeness, beginning in 2023. What does that mean for college athletes moving forward?

BAD WEEK FOR BURFICT
Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict was suspended for the remainder of the season for a helmet-to-helmet hit against the Colts.
- Burfict, his family says, has been playing this way for years.
- Colts coach Frank Reich was pleased to see the suspension.
- Nancy Armour believes the penalty should have been harsher.
- The NFL has since found yet another illegal hit delivered by Burfict.
