Charles Woodson battles Barry Sanders to see who faces Tony Dorsett for college football GOAT title

Football has evolved into a passing game but an all-running back final is still possible in Paste BN Sports' balloting to determine the greatest player in college football history.

Earlier this week, Pittsburgh's iconic running back Tony Dorsett rallied past Illinois linebacker legend Dick Butkus 73%-27% to earn a place in next week's week-long title match.

Dynamic Oklahoma State running back Barry Sanders can make it an all-RB final if he can hold off Michigan defensive sensation Charles Woodson, who has also chewed up opponents in this competition.

The Woodson vs. Sanders voting begins today.

Woodson's collegiate calling card is that he is the only defense-first player to win the Heisman Trophy (1997). Woodson did take some snaps as a receiver.

Sanders is remembered for the 1988 season during which he rushed for 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns. NCAA statistics don't count bowl games. When you factor in his bowl game that season, his rushing total was 2,850 yards with 42 touchdowns.

During that 1988 season, he rushed for four or more touchdowns in seven games. He also rushed for 300 or more yards, four times.
