He lost 475 pounds. Then did something more impressive
THIS MAN LOST 475 POUNDS. THEN DID SOMETHING MORE IMPRESSIVE.
In 2015, Carlos Orosco weighed 650 pounds. He ate fast-food three times a day. He drank heavily. His legs were so swollen his skin began to crack and become infected. Doctors told him he had just three years to live.
Last week, after dropping a staggering 475 pounds, Orosco, very much alive, completed the Detroit marathon.

SPARTY PARTY: A FIRST FOR TOP 25
For the first time in program history, Michigan State will start the season as the No. 1 team in the Paste BN Sports college basketball coaches poll. Tom Schad explains why Virginia, who starts the season ranked No. 9, is uniquely positioned to win back-to-back titles. And, of course, there were snubs.
BIG-TIME COLLEGE FOOTBALL CONTENDER GOES DOWN
In perhaps the most surprising upset of the college football season to date, No. 5 Oklahoma was upended by Kansas State. While the loss certainly isn't good news for the Sooners, and the Big 12 at large, things also could have also been worse.
And besides, it is far too early to write off OU as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.
Other highlights from Week 9:
- Michigan got perhaps the most impressive win of Jim Harbaugh's tenure.
- Kansas won (!) a Big 12 game in one of the wackiest finishes you'll ever see.
- LSU beat Auburn in the "Tiger Bowl," and, uh, it certainly has a case for being the nation's best team.
- Although Ohio State probably has something to say about that after the Buckeyes dominated Wisconsin.
