Soccer fan leaves money in his will to buy his favorite team a round of drinks

As wildfires rage in Australia, athletes all over the world have donated to various causes. Golfer Cameron Smith, who hails from the land down under, pledged $500 for each birdie and $1,000 for each eagle at the Sony Open last weekend in Hawaii.

And, hey, sometimes karma works in your favor. Smith, who started the tournament 4-over after just two holes, finished as the champion after winning a sudden-death playoff.

In the process, he was able to raise $10,500 for his homeland.

COME FOR THE MIKE LEACH QUOTES, STAY FOR THE...MIKE LEACH QUOTES

Mike Leach has been named head coach at Mississippi State, which, if nothing else, gives us the opportunity to dive into some of his most memorable quotes. Including: "I was good at dodgeball," he said. "I bordered on great at dodgeball."

Leach's former running back, Max Borghi, had a hilarious response to his former coach's departure.

Oh, and the Egg Bowl just got WAY more interesting.

THE POSTHUMOUS HERO

Barrie Greaves died late last month at the age of 83. A Norwich City fan, Greaves had a unique way of paying back players for a lifetime of memories. In his will, Greaves left £100 so that the players could buy a round of drinks on him.

“He wanted to give it to them to thank them for their entertainment through the good times and the bad," his daughter said.

Norwich City, who's struggling at 3-5-13, certainly put the money to good use.

HAWKS STAR SHINES OFF THE COURT

Trae Young is in his second season with the Atlanta Hawks, but he's already making a huge difference in the community. Just after the new year, Young donated $1 million to families to help relieve their medical debts.

“Giving back to this community is extremely important to me," Young said. "I hope these families can find a bit of relief knowing that their bills have been taken care of as we enter the New Year.”

PRETTY, PRETTY, PRETTY PREDICTABLE

Viewers of HBO's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' could have seen this coming. Comedian Larry David claims he told his favorite NFL team, the New York Jets, to draft Lamar Jackson. He says then-GM Mike Maccaganan didn't take his request seriously.

We all see how that ended. [cue 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' theme]

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL

After catching the game-winning touchdown pass in a wild-card matchup against the Saints, Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph gave his signed gloves to a "media member" who said they would go to a charity event.

The gloves did not go to a charity event.

Instead, they later ended up on eBay. Boo. But wait! after bringing up the issue on Twitter, the person who bought the gloves offered to donate them to the charity of Rudolph's choice. So it all worked out in the end.
