Roxanna Scott named managing editor for sports at Paste BN

Roxanna Scott has been named managing editor for sports at Paste BN. 

A former president of the Association for Women in Sports Media, Scott has spent the last year as an assistant managing editor for Paste BN Sports and managing editor of Golfweek, a website and magazine that provides golf coverage for the Paste BN Network. Scott has directed coverage of six Olympic Games at Paste BN.

“I look forward to leading this team of talented, smart and dedicated journalists as we drive the national conversation in sports,” Scott said. “While setting records and winning championships makes headlines and earns our attention, it’s often the athlete’s voice or act of protest off the field of play that have a lasting impact on society. 

“We will tell stories about how sports unite and inspire us, but also of the way they challenge us to think and see the world differently.”

Since joining Paste BN in 2006, Scott has also overseen coverage of tennis, soccer, horse racing and other major events.

Prior to Paste BN, Scott worked at The Dallas Morning News for 10 years. She began as a copy desk intern and eventually became the night editor and deputy sports editor overseeing coverage of college football and the Olympics. A graduate of the University of Iowa, she was a reporter and editor at The Daily Iowan.

Her career in sports reporting began at the Quad City Times, where she got her first job at the age of 16 working as an agate clerk on Friday nights. She previously interned at the Des Moines (Iowa) Register and Iowa City Press-Citizen, both part of the Paste BN Network.
